The Olympus SZX12 Stereozoom Microscope has halogen transmission (bottom), LED reflection (top) and Hg fluorescence (top) illuminaton. Imaging system: Cannon 200D camera.
Available dichroic beam splitter cubes: DAPI, GFP/long pass, dsRed.
Switch On
PC switch is at the tip of the red arrow, invisible... There is no password.

Map your network drive (e.g. \\st1.brc\home or \\st18.brc\BOSSNAMEgr "18" may be changed). Remember to write SAMDOM\ before your username. Please, don't store anything on this computer.

Switch it on using the wall switch (red), if you are planning to use the mercury lamp excitation.
Important! Before switching on the lamp...
Please, make sure, the lamp is not warm - look at the reservation system, check its temperature,
ask us...
It is dangerous to switch a mercury lamp off and on!
Switch ON the microscope (right, black switch) in order to have transmission light.
Switch ON the LED power supply unit (small yellow box) in order to have top illumination light. LED modes from left to right:
Switch on the camera (small rotatable switch).
Launch the EOS Utility 3, select 'Remote shooting'. In ortder to see the picture on the monitor, press the 'Live View shot' button.

- Off
- Full circle
- Bottom half
- Bottom-right quoter
- Bottom-right anf top-left quoters
Switch on the camera (small rotatable switch).

Leaving/Switching off - check the reservation
- Exit EOS software
- Move your work to your network drive - it is in Pictures, in a directory named after the date.
- Switch off the camera, the LED and the Mic
- Log out on the microscope webpage
- Disconnect your network drive
- Remove the foil from the ocular and don't forget your sample...
- Switch off the fluorescent lamp
- Switch off the PC
- If it's late and there is nobody around :-) lock the lab and take the key to the gate.
